John Carter first appeared in A Princess of Mars in The All-Story magazine in 1912. Transported to a planet known to the inhabitants as Barsoom, he discovers he has the ability to leap great distances and greater strength than he had as a man on Earth..

Current Incarnation (PDSH)

In our stories, Major John Carter is a WWII pilot and adventurer. He is sent behind enemy lines with a team of specialists to stop the Nazis from activating a machine that has the potential to contact other planets. When the operation goes horribly wrong, he is transported through time and/or space to Barsoom, a planet he had visited once before as a younger man at the end of WWI.
